Vila encantada was born in the middle of a choral exchange, in an atmosphere of revelry and euphoria, and with the aim of being a piece in our size, written for us and by us. Maria, a brave contralto, encouraged herself to write the text and from there the musical discourse has been completely linked to it, trying to lead the music through all the environments and situations that the story raises. We thought it was a good idea to compose a work of some scope but of medium difficulty and affordable for a choir as young as ours.
It was in Alghero that the plot of the cantata took shape, with the view of the Mediterranean and the memory of the picturesque corners of the towns bathed by this common sea. The main character - who does not have a gender marker, despite the fact that our language does not make it easy for us in this aspect - leaves the town where he was born in search of his own identity.
